About

A post on a Law Enforcement web forum asked the following question, "Are there any real LDS cops out there?"  He then stated that he knew some LDS people and couldn't imagine them being capable of working in law enforcement.

I had been thinking about doing this blog for awhile, but that question made my decision.  YES, there are real LDS cops.  I served a mission, married in the temple, and have a current temple recommend.  I'm active in the Church, hold callings, and attend church as often as possible.... and I'm actively working as a Deputy Sheriff... and I'm not the only one.... but there are not many of us.  Even in Utah (yes, I live and work in Utah) there are very few active, LDS cops.

The purpose of this blog is to tell our story and offer our unique perspective on life.  More than telling a few stories, I hope to share what we think, feel and believe.  Most of all, I hope to answer the question of "are there any real LDS cops?" because I think what he was really asking is... "can LDS people be warriors or do they have to rely on others to be their protectors and guardians."

Can a person be a warrior and spiritual?  The Book of Mormon records, "And Moroni was a strong and a mighty man; he was a man of a perfect understanding; yea, a man that did not delight in bloodshed; a man whose soul did joy in the liberty and the freedom of his country, and his brethren from bondage and slavery;" - Alma 48:11

I served in the military for eight years, wandered around trying to find myself after getting out and then coming to the realization that this is the only thing I'm any good at.  God seems to have a purpose for us all.  I figure if the meek are going to inherit the earth, somebody's gotta get it ready for them.

Names are changed, or simply left out, to protect the innocent as well as the guilty.

This is our story.
